"Touch is a powerful way of communicating with others. I contribute to the well being of my clients by combining a comfortable spa atmosphere with relaxing deep tissue techniques. It is my goal to provide you with a better awareness of self.

I studied at SPA Tech Institute of Westboro. MA and graduated in April of 2005. I’m a nationally certified and licensed practitioner since August of 2005. I've been legally married since May 17, 2004 (Finally!) with three beautiful children for about as long. As a father I find myself increasingly focused on issues of family health. I specialize in deep tissue, pregnancy, and better health."

Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork...
Much of your session is based on Swedish massage, the most common form of massage. Deep tissue techniques may be added for focus work and to reach deeper layers of muscle. I may also use range of motion, passive stretching, positional release, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, reflexology, hydrotherapy, or sports massage. Massage may be vigorous as in sports/events massage or relaxing for healing to begin. Together you and I will plan your session to meet your needs and expectations.

Most massage and bodywork techniques are traditionally performed with the client unclothed; however you may decide what amount of clothing you prefer to wear for your comfort. In contrast chair massage and other modalities including Polarity, Reiki, and CranioSacral Therapy are performed with the client fully clothed. Your comfort and privacy are foremost.

Your practitioner will leave the room while you undress, relax onto the table under the draping. Only the area of body being worked on will be exposed. We will communicate at times during your session to be sure the pressure and room atmosphere is comfortable. I like to close our sessions with the gentle sound of a chime. During a relaxed state you may not be prepared for the world outside. This sound and vibration helps to bring forth your senses. Following a massage most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity, which can last for days. Since toxins (metabolic waste) are released from your soft tissues during a massage, it is recommended you drink plenty of water afterward.

Benefits of Massage...
Massage and bodywork can help release chronic muscular tension and pain, improve circulation, increase joint flexibility, reduce mental and physical fatigue and stress, promote faster healing of injured muscular tissue, improve posture, and reduce blood pressure. Massage and bodywork are also known to promote better sleep, improve concentration, reduce anxiety, and create an overall sense of well-being. It is very important that you inform the practitioner of any health problems or medications you are taking.

What is Pregnancy Massage?
Massage during pregnancy is therapeutic bodywork which focuses on the special needs of the mother-to-be as her body goes through the dramatic changes of the childbirth experience. It is a fast-growing field in the United States that has attracted the interest of labor and delivery nurses, nurse-midwives, childbirth educators and obstetricians. Massage therapy enhances the function of muscles and joints, improves circulation and general body tone, and relieves mental and physical fatigue. The popularity of prenatal massage is the result of a trend toward a higher level of wellness, especially during pregnancy. Many women are postponing childbirth until they have achieved other goals, such as careers and relationships. Because of this, pregnancy is anticipated and enjoyed to its fullest for the wondrous experience it is. Today's pregnant women - along with other health care consumers - are looking for alternative approaches to support traditional health services.

What is Deep Tissue Massage?
Deep tissue techniques are generally designed for more focused massage work. Working a specific joint, muscle or muscle group, Daryn can access deeper layers of the soft tissue. Starting superficially and easing into the depth of the muscle slowly often allows more movement. This is the recommended approach in this modality since each person experiences pressure differently. If the pressure is applied too deeply or too quickly, the muscle may tighten to protect that area, and unnecessary damage or inflammation can be induced. Very little lubricant is used as the pressure doesn't travel much over the skin. The most commonly used 'tools' during deep tissue massage may include, 3 and 6 fingers, reinforced fingers, a flat elbow, opposing thumbs, the heel of the hand or foot, and the forearm.

Scheduling is by appointment only. Please call 508-872-3700 for the health of it!
