A Landscape should be Stimulating all Four Seasons:
flowering perennials and ornamental grasses on a warm summer day, colorful foliage in the fall, and berries, seed heads, and evergreens in the winter.
Welcome to Gardens By Design
We are a landscape design, construction, and maintenance company serving residences in lower Fairfield County and Eastern Westchester County. Our design process begins with meeting the client and developing a comprehensive understanding of their needs, interests, and goals for their property and life-style. We are a small company and I, as owner, am involved with every aspect of your project.
We believe in creating sustainable gardens by adhering to the "Right Plant Right Place” philosophy. This means placing plants that are right for the soil, light conditions, and existing moisture content. This will increase both the likelihood of success and the maintenance inputs required.
We observe patterns in natural settings and strive to create those patterns in your garden. The exception would be when we design formal gardens where we use the talents of an award-wining Landscape Architect from the NY Botanical Gardens teaching staff. When possible and as appropriate to the site and to the client needs, we strive to increase the use of native plants. They encourage beneficial insects and invite native songbirds, hummingbirds, butterflies into your garden. Using native plants also reduces the need for resources to maintain the landscape. We provide affordable landscape service to our clients. We are committed to long-term relationships with our clients, business associates and our natural environment.
For terraces, walls, retaining walls, walkways, Belgian block edging and driveway aprons and other hardscapes we provide Landscape Architect designs and installation.
As a company we have a keen interest in design, and delivering safe, and environmentally-friendly service. No chemicals, pesticides or herbicides are utilized, only organic products and fertilizers. Our gardens are non-toxic and child and pet-safe.
