Founded in 2000, Cambridge Eating Disorder Center strives to help those individuals suffering from eating disorders in a non-institutional community setting with the highest quality continuum of care. The practice started with outpatient services and has grown to include an adult evening intensive outpatient program, ideal for career adults on a schedule. When you're coping with an eating disorder, convenient treatment programs and therapy is what you need. Cambridge Eating Disorder Center expanded their services in 2004 to include an evening-only intensive outpatient program for adolescents between the ages of 12-17 dealing with an eating disorder. This was the first program of its kind in the New England area. Soon after, the center added its Partial Hospital day treatment program for adults and adolescents. Today, the center includes a 25-bed residential program for females 12 and older, growing from a regional program to a nationally recognized one. The center is located in the beautiful and exciting Harvard Square in Cambridge, a tranquil environment ideal for recovery. They are accredited by The Joint Commission, requiring them to meet standards related to the safety and quality of client care. At the heart and soul of Cambridge Eating Disorder Center is the goal of helping patients and the community to understand that eating disorders are multidimensional problems. There are many contributing factors, including family and interpersonal relationships, characterological components, physiological issues, and societal pressures. The core of this program is not only treating the symptoms of an eating disorder, but understanding its development and function.
