Welcome to Dragon's Den Kenpo Karate Studio of Lynn, Massachusetts, run by Scott and Janice Fessenden, 3rd degree black belts.
Welcome to the original Dragon's Den Kenpo Karate Studio, independently owned and operated. Centrally located in Lynn, MA (near Saugus, Salem, Swampscott, and Peabody), Dragon's Den is a family-run American Kenpo Karate studio based on the teachings of Senior Grandmaster Ed Parker.
All students memorize his creed and, more importantly, learn to live by its values. Dragon's Den provides a safe, family-friendly environment where students learn confidence, self-esteem, and self-worth.
Students attending Dragon's Den Kenpo Karate Studio are expected to follow our student policies, which reinforce many of the concepts learned during classes. Parents and students are expected to follow our school policies so that students get the most out of their experience with us.
We offer the following classes:
Children's Beginner Classes teach our newest students (5 years and older) that their education and their minds are their best weapons for achieving success in tomorrow's world. Students learn that karate is not just learning how to fight, but how not to fight. All beginner students start as white belts, and with some hard work, dedication, and encouragement, progress and test to their yellow, orange, and purple belts. For more information, visit our Children's Beginner Class page.
Children's Intermediate/Advanced Classes build on earlier skills, while students continue to learn. As soon as students test for and earn their purple belts, we consider them intermediate students, and then they work on their blue and green belts. As soon as students test for and earn their brown belts, we consider them advanced students, and they work on the different levels of brown and their black belts. Advanced students volunteer as junior instructors, helping younger children learn techniques and skills. For more information, visit our Children's Intermediate/Advanced Class page.
For more information about our Adult Classes, visit our Adult Class page.
Arrangements can also be made for women's self-defense group lessons. Groups we have helped include English High School Junior Marine Corps ROTC, Salvation Army, Girls' Inc. of Lynn, North Shore Community College (self-defense classes), City of Lynn's Fire and Safety Days, and Lynn Juvenile Drug Program.
We also teach our students how to spar. Safety equipment is required and students must have their yellow belt before they can learn how to spar.
All classes are taught by our adult instructors. Junior instructors provide more personalized instruction. Adult instructors are listed in our Family Tree.
