Essex County (Massachusetts) lawyers have persevered in their goal to improve the quality of the legal profession and the administration of justice since the early 1700's. Established in 1806, the Essex County Bar Association has gained a prestige achieved by early Essex County Bar Association attorneys, such as, Samuel Putnam, Leverett Saltonstall, Rufus Choate and Theophilus Parsons, which continues to this day.
We credit our longevity and success to loyal members who participate in our CLE Seminars and Social Events, professional opportunities such as the Lawyer Referral Service and Pro Bono Programs, and benefit from our Group Health and Dental Insurance, Professional Liability Insurance, and Disability Insurance programs.
The purposes of the Essex County Bar Association (as stated in our bylaws) are to cultivate, promote and facilitate the administration of justice and uniformity of legislation; to uphold the honor of the profession of the law; and to encourage the spirit of professional courtesy among members of the Massachusetts Bar, and, more specifically, those residing in or practicing law in Essex County. Equally significant, is our commitment to improve the image of lawyers in the eyes of the public.
Most importantly, this is your bar association! Let us know if we can be of service.
