Let Jania's introduce you to the Beauty of Polish Pottery.
Each piece of Boleslawiec stoneware is created and decorated by hand. The forms and patterns have been continuously developed over centuries by skilled artisans who create bowls, plates, cups or other distinctive pieces from the famous white clay found near the town of Boleslawiec, Poland.
Polish pottery is loved for it's relatively thick walled soft line look, traditional patterns and the attractive colors of cobalt blue, forest green and reddish brown. The Potter's Guild has shunned machine produced manufacturing of common pieces and never use decals as part of the decoration process.
Each piece of polish pottery is carefully decorated by hand using a brush or sea sponges for hand stamping (or punching as it is called) by artists. No one piece is exactly the same, which is an appreciated aspect of hand produced designs.
There is a higher level of original design and art that is reserved for master artists. Unikat (polish for unique) and Signature (signed by the artist) patterns are created by each master artist and reflects the individual artist's expression.
There are certain traditional colors that are used in every piece of Polish pottery or stoneware. This usage of traditional colors and forms, and hand created, artist inspired designs all contribute to the old world look and charm of Boleslawiec Stoneware (Polish pottery). Every piece is the creation of a master craftsman.
All the colors and designs of Boleslawiec Stoneware complement each other. This enables pottery lovers to mix and match Polish stoneware to create their own personal displays of these beautiful, and practical, art pieces. Collectors can express their unique artistic taste in their own homes.
