If a project involves lead paint, the contractor must be certified for the EPA’s Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) Rule. I am a lead paint instructor, and teach the RRP Certification course through CONNOR Institute, so you’ll get the best analysis and advice.

It’s much cheaper to test for lead paint first, than to assume it’s safe and risk having to re-do the work.
For contractors who aren’t certified, lead pre-screening could save $1000 per job.
