On the shore of peaceful Buttermilk Bay in Buzzards Bay, Cape Cod, the Buttermilk Bay Inn offers country charm, comfortable accommodations and a private beach. Located on Cranberry Highway, not far from the Cape Cod Canal, the Buttermilk Bay Inn is restored to its original 1940s luster, the inn - with its own private beach - has 27 rooms, many with spectacular water views, all with private baths. Two-room suites and cottages are available, some with kitchenettes and fireplaces. All rooms have been renovated and appointed with either rock maple or wicker furniture as well as TV's for your enjoyment. Coffee or tea is always hot!!! The inn offers a comfortable sitting room in the lobby area for reading or just plain relaxing with family and friends. We are now pleased to offer our guests boat moorings just outside our back door. Buttermilk Bay and the Canal region have some of the best striped bass fishing available. You can arrange locally for salt water fishing charters.
Guests can also arrange to spend a day at Bay Point Country Club enjoying a day of tennis and swimming in their pool (1.1 miles door to door). Golfers can also arrange tee times at Bay Point Country Club, as well. Week-End golfing requires advance notification. Many other golf courses are within close proximity as well.
Families are welcome here. Buzzards Bay has an assortment of activities for the young and young at heart, from a water park to miniature golf, from batting cages to go-karts, and from arcades to ice cream parlors. If you like biking, the Cape Cod Canal offers an uninterrupted seven and a half mile trail that parallels almost the full length of the canal. Watch the large freighters pass on their way to and from Boston. When it comes to great beaches, biking, shopping and museums, the Buttermilk Bay Inn is within easy driving distance. We are 20 minutes from Plymouth where you can visit historic Plymouth Rock, and Plimouth Plantation - a living history museum of Pilgrim times, or take a whale-watching cruise out on Cape Cod Bay. We are 20 minutes from great Falmouth beaches, shopping and the Woods Hole Steamship Authority for day trips to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket.
Boston, with its remarkable historic sites and excellent restaurants, is just an hour away by car, or you can take a commuter rail that stops 20 minutes north of Buzzards Bay / Wareham.
