The Dolphin Fleet of Provincetown, at the tip of Cape Cod
The 2010 whale watching season has ended like it started ~ with great weather and abundant whale sightings. For the thousands of whale watchers who sailed aboard Dolphin Fleet vessels, including the Portuguese Princess, thank you! It was a pleasure for us to meet each of you and share our encounters with whales, dolphins, turtles, sharks and pelagic birds in the Stellwagen National Marine Sanctuary, six miles northeast of Provincetown.
Dolphin Fleet adheres to NOAA Northest whalewatching guidelines and is an active participant to the whale sense program. Visit the whale sense web site to learn about responsible whale watching and the whale sense program.
Dolphin Fleet History...
In 1975 the Dolphin Fleet started whale watching out of Provincetown, Massachusetts with the hope of bringing an understanding and awareness to the public about whales and their environment. We ventured out on educational trips with scientists to study whales as well as educate the public about marine mammals and their habitat. The first trips where a great success!
Our customers were awed by these magnificent creatures charging out of the depths to capture the small fish which constitute their diet. Even more exciting was a whale leaving the water with its 40 tons of mass crashing back with an explosion of water in its wake. People were eager to go again to see these whales in their natural habitat and learn more about them.
