We are taking new members for our AquaNatal Exercise Program. This semi-private aquatic exercise class for pregnant women is helpful in alleviating the pain, swelling, fatigue, and sleep loss caused by pregnancy. Class size is capped at four participants. Physical Therapy Staff
The staff at Boston Sports Medicine is a diverse group of highly educated, trained, and experienced licensed professionals. We have expertise in post-surgical rehabilitation, running injuries, all field sport injuries, shoulder injuries, back and neck injuries, dance injuries, aquatic therapy, and manual therapies. All of our physical therapists have advanced credentials such doctorate degrees(DPT), athletic trainer certification/licensure(ATC), Graston certification, McKenzie certification, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist(CSCS), and more. Boston Sports Medicine has a large annual education budget to ensure our therapists are able to have the most current knowledge and skills to treat our patients. Most of our staff are or have been highly competitive athletes. We have a body builder and professional bicycle racer on staff as physical therapists. We are the exclusive physical therapy sponsor for Zoom Multisport Triathlon Team and staff for a professional sports team. We are the exclusive providers of aquatic therapy for Boston's professional ballet company.

Our director, Dr. Michael J. Velsmid, holds the degrees of Doctor of Physical Therapy from MGH Institute of Health Professions, Master of Science in Exercise Science from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and Master of Science in Physical Therapy from Simmons College. Dr. Velsmid has practiced in the Physical Therapy field since 1995 and specializes in sports and outpatient orthopedics. He has extensive experience in rehabilitation of high-level competitive athletes, including marathon runners, triathletes, college varsity athletes of all sports, professional ballet dancers, figure skaters, and many others. He also provides custom orthotic fabrication. Dr. Velsmid is a NEC-ACCE award-winning clinical educator. He is a prior body builder, an avid skier, and a half marathon runner. Dr. Velsmid founded Boston Sports Medicine in 1999 and since that time has carefully selected every clinician to replicate his quality of care.
