Hat made with Fezal’s Platino super bulky yarn
Eco Duo by Cascade is a worsted-weight yarn made with 70% alpaca and 30% merino, 197yards per 100 grams. It comes in variagated natural colors and knits at 18 stitches per 4 inches. It is very soft and lovely and has the added advantage of beingecologically sound in it's production.
Feza’s Platino, which is a thick-and-thin wool super bulky. It has 44yds in 100g. We have posted a free pattern for a Platino hat, pictured at left. This hat is incredibly easy to knit up and makes a great quick gift.
Ushya from Mirasol. It’s 98% merino/2% Polyamide and is a nice bulky/chunky weight at 114yds/100g. I got this yarn because it has a nifty texture. The yarn itself actually looks like it's braided.
Malabrigo Rios is a kettle-dyed superwash merino that knits at 4.5-5.5 stitches per inch. Iif you want some, you’d better get here quick. Last time we got some in, it was almost gone in 24 hours.
Amity, the 75% acrylic/25% wool that is machine-wash-and-dry, now comes in a bunch of self-patterning colorways. This yarn is great for baby and kid’s things and for making something for that person you just know is going to throw it in the dryer.

Have you ever wanted to knit lace and didn't know where to start?
Let Kimberly take the mystery out of lace knitting. She will show you how to follow lace pattern and give you many tips and tricks for making beautiful lace projects of your own.

Open for Enrollment Through Oct. 31!
I dye a special skein for members of the Sock Club about every other month for a year. I use five to six colors per skein. The colorways are inspired by whatever moves me at that moment. I get a lot of my inspiration from nature, but there are times when I just want to play with color and see what happens.
The Sock Club is also still the only way to get one of my self-patterning skeins. I do them once a year in January for Sock Club members only.

Spinning Group Changes
Our spinning group now meets on the third Thursday of the month and is free of charge. Anyone is welcome. For more information, see our Classes page.

Call for Non-Wool Chemo Caps
A customer, Laura, asked if we would collect chemo caps here for the next little while.
She’s collecting chemo caps in honor of Nicky, a seven-year-old friend who recently had surgery to remove a tumor in his brain and is now facing more than a year of radiation and chemotherapy. She plans to let Nicky choose his favorite caps and donate all others to the hospital where he is being treated, for other children who might need them.
Nicky is a former Somerville resident who now lives in Portugal, where it is quite warm during the summer (that’s why non-wool caps are requested).
You can bring donations by the shop. If you have any questions, contact Laura at lkollett@gmail.com (aprilshowers on Ravelry).

Get our washable merino sock yarn from our Etsy store. Colors shown here are Acid Washed and Denim. Color and fiber availability varies.

Our hand-dyed yarns are available online!
As seen on the Yarn Harlot’s blog.
Due to popular demand, we offer a selection of gorgeous hand-dyed yarns at mindseyeyarns.etsy.com.
The selection of fibers and colors changes often as we dye new yarns and other dye lots are sold. To give you an idea of our offerings.

Calling All Ravelers!
There is now a Mind’s Eye Yarns Ravelry group. Search for Minds Eye Yarns on Ravelry’s groups page. (Notice there’s no apostrophe in the group name.) I’ll be using the group to let people know about dye days and shop events and to answer people’s questions. You can use it to ask me questions, make colorway suggestions (I always love suggestions!) or just to talk amongst yourselves.

You can follow my adventures in the shop and in the rest of my life at www.fullserviceyarnshop.com.
