Contemplating a More Quiet Time in the Garden

We're entering the final chapters of the gardening calendar in New England. The last of the changing foliage is beginning to drift to earth, exposing bare branches, mostly in shades of brown, until you look again. It's time to contemplate our winter gardens, whose framework will be exposed now that the much of the foliage is gone.
