The mission of our practice is to deliver an unmatched level of personal attention and expertise to those patients seeking to optimize their visual performance. Doctor John Frangie has made it imperative to his practice to provide Western Massachusetts patients with state-of the-art technology, accordingly, the NorthEast Laser Center was among the first practices in the country to incorporate laser vision breakthroughs include No Blade IntraLasik via a femtosecond technology, LASIK, PRK, and Advanced Surface Ablation techniques utilizing eye-tracking capabilities and wavefront optimized technology with the Eye-Q eximer laser. The NorthEast Laser Center is the only practice in Western Massachusetts to combine these technologic advances, by offering both Intralase and the Eye-Q treatment. Patients with nearsightness, farsightedness, and astigmatism can all experience the benefits of laser vision correction.

Indeed the mantra of NELC has been LASIK the way it should be, and the first step in the process is to learn about the patients visual needs and goals. While it is important for patients to be informed and know about their surgeon, we feel it is just as important for your surgeon to know you! The process begins with a complimentary consultation which can be scheduled at your convenience.
The next step is your journey to better vision is a comprehensive examination utilizing corneal mapping, elevation and aberrometry. Occasionally, we detect medical conditions which make laser vision correction a less-than-optimal treatment for the patient. Conditions such as uncontrolled diabetes, untreated glaucoma and retinal tears or detachment require specialized care, and we are happy to coordinate this care with your primary eye care provider.
Other conditions such as cataracts may benefit from premium Presbyopic implants such as the accommodating Crystalens implants. Other premium lens solutions include multifocal platforms found in the ReStor and ReZoom implants.
Additionally the NorthEast Laser Center is the only practice in the Greater Springfield area offering INTACs specialized implants for patients with a condition known as keratoconus.
Our SurgeonThe majority of our referrals are from previous LASIK patients who have recommended John Frangie, M.D. to their friends and family. Doctor Frangie is a refractive surgery specialist who has taught other cataract and refractive surgeons from around the world while he was Director of the Cornea and Refractive Surgery Service at the Boston University School of Medicine. Locally, Dr. Frangie has received recognition as a perennial favorite in the Valley Advocates Best Eye Doctor; he is also recognized nationally as being among Americas Top Ophthalmologists By the Consumers Research Council of America since 2004.
